Simply Stunning Tooth Repair

Veneers are a stain-resistant and incredibly strong cosmetic treatment that gives your teeth a stunning and natural appearance.

They are made from wafer-thin porcelain that is bonded to the front of your tooth, similar to applying a false fingernail.

Veneers can be placed on a single tooth, or multiple teeth, to add a uniform shape, symmetry and colour to your smile.

The Process

Putting Your Veneer in Place

Once you and your dentist decide that veneers are right for you, we will make a small adjustment to the teeth if required, make an impression of your mouth and match the colour of the veneer to your tooth’s natural hue.

When your custom made veneer is ready, we will schedule you in for another visit where we will fit the veneer discreetly and tightly against the tooth’s surface. Your veneers are then permanently bonded into place.

The Benefits of Veneers

  • Porcelain veneers are a popular cosmetic treatment that offers a number of benefits, including:
  • Improved appearance- Porcelain veneers can dramatically improve the appearance of your smile by covering up chips, cracks and discoloration
  • Natural-looking results- Veneers are custom-made to match the colour and shade of your natural teeth
  • Stain resistance- Porcelain is a non-porous material, which means it resists staining from coffee, tea, wine, and other foods and drinks that can stain natural teeth.
  • Durability- Veneers are incredibly tough and durable and can last for 10 to 15 years with proper care
  • Increased confidence- A beautiful smile can boost your confidence and self-esteem. If you’re self-conscious about your smile, veneers can help you feel better about the way you look
  • Easy to care for- Veneers only require the same brushing and flossing routine as your natural teeth.

Aftercare

Aftercare for Your New Veneers

After your porcelain veneers have been placed it is essential to follow a good aftercare routine. This will ensure they last as long as possible and maintain their beautiful look.

Here are some key aftercare tips:

  • Maintain good oral hygiene- Brush twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and interdental brushes or floss once a day to remove plaque and food particles that can cause gum disease and decay
  • Use a fluoride toothpaste to strengthen the underlying tooth and help prevent cavities
  • Be cautious with hard or chewy foods like nuts, hard sweets, ice, or raw vegetables, which can chip or crack your veneers
  • Limit sugary drinks- Sugary drinks can contribute to decay around the veneers
  • Wear a mouthguard: If you participate in contact sports or activities with a high risk of facial impact, wear a mouthguard
  • See your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and to monitor the health of your veneers and surrounding teeth.

FAQs

Are veneers the right treatment for me?

Veneers are a good match for almost anyone so the chances are they can be an excellent choice for you. However, if you have any untreated tooth decay, gum disease, acid erosion or you grind your teeth, veneers may not be the best option for you until these issues are treated. Your dentist will be glad to discuss all your restorative options.

Does it hurt to have a veneer put in place?

At Camlough dental our aim is to make every treatment as painless as possible and to ensure you feel safe and comfortable. When your dentist performs the treatment you will likely not feel a thing, however a small handful of people may experience mild sensitivity during the procedure or for a day or two after.

Are veneers permanent?

A veneer properly and professionally placed by your dentist can easily last many, many years if it is cared for through good oral hygiene, diet and regular visits to your dentist.

However, if you neglect your oral health and consume lots of fizzy drinks, sweets or other sugary treats, your tooth/teeth will still be a target of tooth decay and your veneer may need to be replaced.
