Even One Missing Tooth is Too Many
A single missing tooth can actually cause some major problems, even if it doesn’t seem like it could. When even one tooth is missing, you risk having the surrounding teeth drifting and rotating to fill the gap. This can create speech issues as well as problems with your chewing/eating and digestion.
A single implant will act, look and feel very similar to a natural tooth and will restore your smile and improve your oral health. Implants do not have nerves going to your brain, so it is important not to eat anything too hard with your implant
At Camlough Dental, we believe that treating issues sooner rather than later can save you a lot of pain, not to mention money, further down the road.

The Benefits of a Single Dental Implant
Unlike other tooth replacement procedures, like dentures and bridges, a single dental implant is permanent and self-supporting. This means the treatment is less invasive and doesn’t rely on using your surrounding teeth as anchors.
Best of all, your new implant won’t affect your speech, will make it easier to eat and you won’t need to remove it at night or clean it separately. It really is the next best thing to having your original tooth back!
Aftercare for Your New Implant
Looking after dental implants is much easier than it is for traditional dentures and bridges. In fact, it’s about as close to having your natural teeth back as you can get!
Simply brush and use interdental brushes. Although the implant itself is not subjected to decay and erosion, the area around it is, so it’s important to continue seeing your dentist and hygienist to be sure it’s free from plaque and bacteria.
FAQs
How long do implants last?
When cared for properly, there’s no reason that your new implant won’t last many, many years. Because the titanium screw permanently bonds with your jaw bone, there are no adhesives or anchored supports that might deteriorate or break. However, it is still vital that you look after your oral health and attend regular maintenance appointments to make sure you get the most out of your investment.
How long will the entire single dental implant process take?
Normally, it takes approximately 1.5 hours to place the titanium root in your mouth but, like any procedure, it can vary depending on your individual circumstances. After the surgery, we will allow at least 3 months to let the screw bond (integrate) fully with your jaw bone. When we are fully satisfied that it has integrated completely, we will make an impression of your mouth and create your final crown (restoration), which will take roughly 4 weeks or so. Finally, the fitting of your crown will take about an hour.
Will my age be a factor in getting an implant?
Before we can place an implant we need to be sure that your jaw bone has fully matured and is no longer growing or changing shape. For that reason they are not practical for children or young teenagers. Once we have confirmed your jaw is suitable and there are no other significant risks there is no set age limit. The team at Camlough Dental will be happy to discuss any questions you may have about any of our implant treatments.
