The Key to a Healthy Smile
Even though it’s tempting to only visit your dentist in an emergency, we believe everyone benefits from regular checkups.
We recommend visiting your dentist twice a year, but this may vary depending on your oral health.
The Benefits of Routine Checkups
By regularly visiting Camlough Dental we can treat any immediate issues and identify any potential threats- before they become a real problem. Not only is it easier to treat these threats in their early stages, it can save you the cost and discomfort of a more invasive treatment later on.

What Happens in a Routine Checkup
During your checkup your dentist will assess your overall oral health.
The appointment will include:
- A thorough review of your medical and dental history
- X-rays (if needed)
- A screening for oral cancers
- A periodontal health evaluation
- An examination of your teeth and soft tissues
- An assessment of any TMJ (temporomandibular) problems
- An occlusion (or “bite”) check
Your Camlough dentist will also ask you about your current care routine and answer any questions you may have about your teeth and gums.
FAQs
At Camlough Dental, our aim is to provide the best service delivered by the best in technology and techniques. From a wide range of general and cosmetic dentistry, as well as adult orthodontics and dental implants, we also have our own in-house dental hygienist.
Why should I have regular checkups?
At Camlough Dental we recommend everyone- especially new patients- have regular check ups to help us identify any current problems and help us prevent future issues- saving you time and money.
Will I need to do anything after the check up?
When your appointment is over we will discuss any issues and/or treatments needed, as well as the costs. We will then create a personalised oral health routine specifically for your needs.
Will you take x-rays?
Sometimes we will need to take x-rays to get a more in-depth look into areas we can’t see otherwise, such as the roots of your teeth. We also use x-rays to check levels of bone support and the position of any erupting teeth, including wisdom teeth.
